I’ve also lived in the area for a long time (22 years) and I haven’t even had my car vandalized, have never been robbed, nor my house broken into. I’ve been everywhere: good neighborhoods, bad neighborhoods at all times of night and day and nothing has ever happened to me. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but based on my experience, if you’re aware of your surroundings and don’t do anything stupid (like leaving your iPad in broad view inside your car while you go to the grocery store) Miami can be a pretty safe place for a big city. If you take the necessary basic precautions you should be more worried about bad drivers in Miami than violent crime.

hey my name is alex wilson and i am thinking of moving to america in the next 4 or 5 yrs for a working visa since we both live in australia and i was wondering if you could give me the a.b.c’s on staying away from getting into trouble or crime and staying safe and un-afraid (laugh out loud) believe me i was ALOT of crime tv shows i get scared just thinking about it but i always wanted to live in america never the less (HUGE WWE FAN LOL) thanks

Bravo, as a young man with over 25 years of living in Miami I agree whole heartedly. Sadly enough I do not have a handy ‘valet’ jacket and was forced to live in the ‘no slip’ neighborhoods. Yes, I know, poor me
