Miami Shores Summer Camps – 2008

It is that time of the year again to tell you about Miami Summer Camps. We received a couple of phone calls last month asking why our article wasnt up and the truth is that most summer camps are organized at the very last minute and the information was not available. (maybe its a Miami Thing…could it be a “Miamism?”)

Planning for summer camps for the kids can be very stressful because you dont even know where to begin. Hopefully this list will make it easier for you and will serve as a guide. If I miss any camps, feel free to add them to the comment section for others to see. Most of you know that I have 3 kids of different ages, and not only have we done a lot of research on summer camps, we have also visited a lot of these in person as well as have sent our kids and have first hand experience. Hopefully this information will be helpful to local families to find activities for their kids as well as those families that are in Miami for the summer. ***MIAMI SHORES SUMMER CAMPS – (organized by The Miami Shores Recreation Department). These include a series of camps offered throughout the summer for different ages including:

• Shores Spectacular Summer Camp – ages 5-12 (June 9th to August 15th from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM) 305-758-6701

*** THE MIAMI SHORES COUNTRY CLUB TENNIS, GOLF & AQUATIC SUMMER CAMP– great junior camp with quality tennis and golf instruction, country club lunch as well as ˜free-swim and play at the Miami Shores Aquatic Center. • BUCkids Summer Camp – this is a complete camp full of activities including academics as well as recreational activities.

*** MIAMI COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP – for children between the ages of 4 and 11. The camp runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM – activities include Arts & Crafts, Computers, Fishing, Canoeing, indoor and outdoor games, music and field trips (cafeteria lunch is included)

• Session 1 – June 16 to July 3
• Session 2 – July 7 to July 25

***Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School June Academy Summer Program – provides students in grades 6th through 9th a wonderful preview of a high school sports program and engages students in a variety of enrichment courses in the areas of the performing arts and science. Camp offerings include: Tae Kwon Do, Chess, Sports, Band, Performing/Visual Arts, Chineese and much more! 305.751.8367. ***MSPCS (Miami Shores Presbyterian Church Pre-school) – Summer Camp 2008 – weekly and daily camp with all kind of fun activities from music, creative movement, games, special events, outdoor play, science, arts and & crafts and weekly field trips. 305-751-5417 ** I will be adding more Summer Camps as I find out about them, feel free to add your experience or add any camps I missed** Please note that all the major children attractions in Miami also have Summer Camps – some of these include
